Growing up on the farm, during the night we had only one light source; the yard lamp on the properties south eat corner. My room, facing north, was pitch black aside from the occasional full moon. Growing up I remember spending the night at my Grandmothers. The street lights shone directly in the room and kept me up at night. Till this day I still sleep more soundly in the pitch black. Which is a little strange since I'm terrified of the dark.
In our new house the bedroom window overlooks the nearest intersection and the local convenience store. I love rolling over on the weekend and peering out into the street. I do not however enjoy the street lights that sneak though the blinds.
You can take the girl out of the country, but you can't take the country out of the girl.
