My reading week started last night. After writing my last midterm Wednesday a phone call turned my attitude completely around. It was good. I am my old highschool self again, silly and carefree with a ridiculously messing bedroom. I like it.

I think I would be a sucky person to marry. I'm very moody and don't take well to support. Sometimes I just like to sit around and feel poopy. I don't think I live well with others.

I'm having tests done at the hospital today and I'm not supposed to eat. I haven' t eaten since 6:00 last night. Since midngiht last night I am not allowed to have anything to drink either. I am suffering! My appointment isn't even until 1:30. I want to eat so bad!

The summer of 2002 I set out to lose the extra pounds that I had gained during first year. I'm a pretty hardcore person and was set on acheiving this goal. With the assistance of heartache I managed to reduce the amount and type of food I ate. According to my co-workers at the time, I was malnourished. One of the things I gave up was milk. Knowing that dairy fat contained the word 'fat' I decided to replace milk with water, since one of my goals was to drink 5L or water a day. I still ate cheeses but otherwise no dairy.

When I returned to school and did my own grocery shopping I purchased a carton of milk for cereal since my favourite fruits were out of season and I needed a new breakfast diet. This did not turn out well. If having toots that can clear a room means you're lactose intolerant, than that is what I was. I cut milk cold turkey, on the simple basis that I spent most of my day surrounded by people and smelly toots were akward.

Most of second year continued this way, right into the summer of 2003. I started to develop 'stomach irritation' from other dairy products, such as yogurt and cottage cheese (which were a main part of my summer diet), to further avoid being mortified in front of my new co-workers I was careful with what I ate during the day. In the fall it got ten times worse. I was busy and wasn't eating frequently or properly. Cheese made my stomach turn in painful knots. One time I ate Kraft Dinner and I thought I was going to explode, just like a seagul on anacids.

I had been taking lactose pills all summer, but it just wasn't enough anymore. I stopped eating all dairy, including butter, or anything fried in butter. This was very restricting. I also felt rude eating at others homes and having to refuse a dish.
At the end of the semester I met one of Curtis' friends who had been officially diagnosed as lactose intolerant. He suggested that I just 'tough it out' and fight the intolerance. At first this sounded like hell. But after a while I gave in. I am a huge cheese fan and wanted to look forward to meals again. So I tried it.

Gradually over the past eight weeks I've been trying to build my tolerance. Today after my run I went to the grocery store to get some lunch. I passed the dairy aisle. I looked at the milk, paused... yes I had a craving. I reached for the skim thinking that it would be my best bet. But gave in and bought the lactose free. So far today I have had three bowls of Special K and I am thrilled. Before May I'm going to be drinking 1% by the glass!

Recently my stomach has been giving me a real hard time. I ate a bunch of fried food tonight, being superbowl and all, and I developed stight discomfort. But it wasn't until late tonight that my stomach really started to bother me. I think I get stomach aches when I'm nervous. More like when I feel helpless.
