Almighty and eternal God, enable those who do not acknowledge Christ to find the truth as they walk before you in sincerity of heart. Help us to grow in love for one another, to grasp more fully the mystery of your godhead, and to become more perfect witnesses of your love in the sight of men. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen
You think that was bad......
Let us pray for those who do not believe in God, they that may find him by sincerely following all that is right. We pray to the Lord.
Almighty and eternal God, you created mankind so that all might long to find you and have peace when you are found. Grant that, in spite of hurtful things that stand in their way, they may all recognise in the lives of Christians the tokens of your love and mercy, and gladly acknowledge you as the one true God and Father of us all. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen
Passages and intentions like these are the thing that make me embarasses to admit that I'm Catholic. Seriously though, when was this written ? 1616? I feel that the Good Friday service requires major alterations.
It goes beyond Good Friday mass. Every mass during the intentions my church prays for 'Christian marriage'. I cringe every time I hear it. I couldn't live my life without religion. But I'm beginning to realise that this Catholicism thing just isn't working out for me. I have no problem telling non-Catholics that I'm catholic, but amoungst Catholics I'd consider myself Agnostic. Believing in the Holy Trinity helps me, but I feel discouraged when I attend Church. I don't feel that my faith can or should be expressed in cult-like chants to proclaim my inferiority to God and superiority to those who believe otherwise.
But the singing is good. I love church songs :) That will have to keep me happy for now.
